FF IX Menu Issue

Hi everyone
Got myself this emulator on my Note 2 after years of using the PC version. Been trying to play Final Fantasy IX, but whenever I click Triangle to go to the menu, the game just crashes and exits. (I am currently in the forest after the crash at the start)
I have tried various settings (Software mode, hardware mode, OpenGL mode) but all seem to do the same thing. Have toggled with framelimiters etc too. Does anyone have experience of a similar issue? Dont want to have to switch to my...
