ePSXe doesn't recognize right analog stick (gamesir t1s)

I spent the entire morning trying to make this work, with no luck. I have a gamesir t1s controller. It works very well, but ePSXe v2.0.8 on Android is driving me nuts. It recognizes the right analog stick, as in "Player 1 map axis --> Gamepad test axis" I can see the input is received. But when I try to map any button moving the stick, nothing appens.
